It was hard to wait patiently, but Querry did so anyway.  What choice did he have?  He was hardly the kind of guy who took being walked away from well.  Plus, going back early would mean funny looks from co-workers who got out as often as he did.

It was hard to wait patiently, but Querry did so anyway.  What choice did he have?  He was hardly the kind of guy who took being walked away from well.  Plus, going back early would mean funny looks from co-workers who got out as often as he did.

But patience had its limit.  So did Querry.  Meeting be damned, he wasn’t going to spend his precious lunch hour sitting in some understuffed waiting room seat fidgeting a shiny ass onto his cheap office suit.  At the desk beyond, the receptionist’s eyebrows quirked up with her sympathetic smile; she mouthed five more minutes like it actually meant a damn thing.  Five more minutes and he’d be nothing more than a warm spot in an empty chair.

When the door beyond the desk clicked open Querry’s hands were heating the metal of the armrests, poised to push himself up.  Meeting the amused dark eyes of the man framed by cheap plywood had him sitting back with a bump.  “I...”

“You were just about to leave?”

Querry squirmed uneasily in his seat.  “I couldn’t keep waiting, I’ll be late.”

One dark eyebrow lifted.  “You have somewhere more important to be?”

He couldn’t hold back his snort.  “Yeah.  Work.”

For one awful moment there was a flash of anger across his handsome features that quickened Querry’s breath, then it was gone, replaced by that cocky smile he knew far too well.  “Then this will just have to be quick, won’t it?  Come with me.”

Heart sinking at the words, he followed him past the desk and over to another door, doing his best not to feel the receptionist’s curious stare boring into his back as the jangle of keys filled the air.  Obviously this room didn’t see much use.

Querry didn’t know why.  The vast window at the far end afforded a panoramic view of the city and made the appalling faux wood effect he’d already seen so much of seem almost bearable; a dusty conference table dominated the space.  “Why are we—”

A hand seized his shoulder; the wall slammed into his back.  The rest of his sentence was lost in a moan.  His hot, urgent mouth pressed over Querry’s, tongue forcing between his teeth; his free hand moved to grope the front of Querry’s pants.

Querry dissolved into the kiss, knees sagging.

“Anyway,” he murmured into Querry’s ear when they parted, sounding nowhere near as out of breath as Querry felt, “this room’s soundproof.  You can make as much noise as you like and no one will ever know.”

His words sent a thrill across Querry’s shoulders even as he felt his heart falter.  Fear could be a powerful aphrodisiac, the tent he palmed in the front of Querry’s trousers was proof enough of that, but every time he said things like that Querry couldn’t help wishing he’d fallen for someone, anyone, other than the most dangerous man he’d ever met.

  1. A bit of Shades of Grey sort of meeting (though I never read Shades, so if I am way off, blame my ignorance.)

Hope your eyes are doing better!

    1. Haha, I've never read it either, though I did read Jenny Trout's recaps in the dim and distant past which you can find here if you're curious - she's very funny, but I really did feel sorry for her by the end. This was actually part of a dream I had the morning before; I dread to think what was going on in my head!

Thank you, it's all cleared up now which is a great relief. I can actually see properly out of both of them again!
